Tebay

Tebay is a village in the upper Lune Valley, Cumbria, England, with significant Roman-era and medieval archaeological remains. The nearby Low Borrowbridge Roman fort is a Scheduled Monument with extensive, well-preserved earthworks including a turf-covered platform, embanked double ditches, and outworks along the River Lune. Excavations in 1950 showed occupation through much of the Roman period with evidence of destruction and reconstruction, with rampart phases dating from the Hadrianic to Severan periods. Castle Howe, a motte-and-bailey castle by the River Lune, occupies a strategic position north of the village.
