Three Brothers, Lancashire

The Three Brothers are three large erratic boulders perched on limestone pavement in the hills above Morecambe Bay, immediately north of Warton Crag in Lancashire, England. Placed in a line about forty feet apart with the largest stone in the middle, they may be glacial erratics or deliberately positioned rocking stones. Some researchers believe they served as altars or ceremonial sites during the Neolithic or Bronze Age, though definitive proof is lacking. The site was surveyed by archaeo-astronomer Alexander Thom. Nearby Warton Crag hosts a hillfort attributed to the Brigantes tribe.
