Plainsfield Camp

Plainsfield Camp (also called Park Plantation or Cockercombe Castle) is a probable Iron Age earthwork on the Quantock Hills near Aisholt in Somerset, England. The sub-rectangular enclosure covers approximately 1.2 hectares, with a stone-and-earth rampart 7-10 metres wide standing up to 3 metres high on the downslope side, and an external ditch reaching 1.2 metres deep. Its classification as a hillfort is debated, as features such as a single rampart, simple entrance, and hillside position suggest it may have been an animal enclosure rather than a defended settlement. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (designated 1994).
