Bat's Castle

Bat's Castle is an Iron Age hillfort on the 213-metre (699 ft) summit of Gallox Hill in the parish of Carhampton, southwest of Dunster in Somerset, England [1]. The site was identified in 1983 after schoolboys discovered eight silver-plated coins dating from 102 BC to AD 350 [1]. Previously known as Caesar's Camp and possibly associated with Black Ball Camp, the hillfort features two stone ramparts and two ditches, with the ramparts now damaged [1]. The discovery of Roman-era coins suggests continued use or reuse of the site into the Roman period [1].
