Battlegore Burial Chamber

Battlegore Burial Chamber is a Bronze Age barrow complex in Williton, Somerset, England. The site comprises three round barrows and possibly a long, chambered barrow [1]. It was excavated in 1931 by archaeologist George Gray [1]. The name "Battlegore" derives from a tradition linking the site to a Danish raid in either 918 or 988 AD [1]. Earlier records from the 14th century refer to it as "Bytelgore" [1]. Along with three nearby round barrows, it is protected as a scheduled ancient monument [1].
