Site of a Romano-Celtic temple on Farley Heath near Albury, Surrey, representing the largest Romano-British settlement in the county. The square temple featured an outer portico measuring 46.5 feet with a 24-foot inner cella, enclosed by a temenos wall 73 meters in diameter. First excavated in 1848 by antiquarian Martin Tupper, who uncovered over 1,000 Roman coins, rare British gold and silver pieces, and enamelled brooches, now in the British Museum. Active before the end of the 1st century AD, the temple was destroyed by fire around 450 AD. The site may have marked the tribal boundary between the Regnenses and Atrebates.
