Stane Street, Chichester

Stane Street is the modern name of a 91 km (57 mi) Roman road in southern England that linked Londinium (London) to Noviomagus Reginorum (Chichester) [1]. The exact date of construction is uncertain; however, archaeological artefacts discovered along the route indicate it was in use by 70 AD and may have been built during the first decade of the Roman occupation of Britain (43-53 AD) [1]. The road served as a major transport corridor for nearly 500 years during Roman rule.
