Badshot Lea Long Barrow

The only known Neolithic long barrow in Surrey, England, also called Farnham Long Barrow, probably built in the 4th millennium BC. Discovered in 1936 by W.F. Rankine, it was excavated by Alexander Keiller and Stuart Piggott before quarrying could destroy it. The earthen tumulus was approximately 43 m long with flanking side ditches. Finds included Neolithic pottery sherds, a polished flint axe fragment, and leaf-shaped arrowheads. Described in 1987 as "the most impressive Neolithic feature yet located" in Surrey.
