Sunningdale Barrow

Sunningdale Barrow is an archaeological site in Berkshire, England, comprising three Bronze Age round barrows. One bowl barrow is located near Sunningdale railway station, in an area historically part of Surrey before boundary changes. Excavations during the 19th century uncovered cremation burials, the majority of which were placed in pottery urns, reflecting typical Bronze Age funerary practices in southern England where cremation increasingly replaced earlier inhumation customs. These barrows represent important ritual landscapes utilized by prehistoric communities over several centuries.
