Burnham Beeches

Burnham Beeches, a 374.6-hectare woodland near Farnham Common in Buckinghamshire, contains a slight univallate hillfort at Seven Ways Plain dating to the Late Bronze Age or Early Iron Age (c. 8th-5th century BC) [1] [2] [3]. The roughly oval enclosure measures 140 by 100 metres [2] [4]. One of only about 150 such hillforts in England, it may have served as a stock enclosure, redistribution centre, or settlement [2] [3]. The wider site is a National Nature Reserve, SSSI, and Special Area of Conservation renowned for its ancient pollarded beech trees [1] [5] [6].
