Schanzenkopf - Schwedenschanze

Schanzenenkopf (365m), also known as Schwedenschanze, is a hill in the Spessart mountains of Bavaria, Germany, northeast of Dörsthöfe in the Michelbach district of Alzenau [1]. The site features the remains of a circular earthwork from the Iron Age (1500-500 BC), locally called Schwedenschanze or Swedish Rampart [2]. The rampart stretches approximately 100 metres, with walls 2-4 metres high and up to 12 metres wide [2]. It lies directly on the border with the state of Hesse [1].
