Altendorf Megalithic Tomb

A Late Neolithic gallery grave of the Wartberg culture near Naumburg in northern Hesse, Germany, dating to c. 3400 BC. The tomb held remains of at least 250 individuals of all ages and both sexes, making it one of the most significant collective burials in Central European prehistory. Research reveals three phases: collective community burials (3250-3100 BC), a hiatus, and later single inhumations (2600-1450 BC). Finds are displayed at the Wolfhagen Country Museum and the State Museum of Kassel.
