Drususstein

The Drususstein is a nearly 20-metre-high Roman masonry block located on the grounds of the citadel in Mainz, Germany, originally cased in marble[1]. Erected in 9 BC by Roman troops, it is identified as the structural remnant of a cenotaph honoring the deceased general Drusus (Drusus the Elder)[2]. Ancient sources including Eutropius and Suetonius documented this monument at Mogontiacum, the Roman name for Mainz[3].
