Hochdorf Chieftain's Grave

The Hochdorf Chieftain's Grave is a richly-furnished Celtic burial chamber in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, dating to 530 BC during the Hallstatt culture period [1]. It was discovered in 1968 by an amateur archaeologist, and it was excavated from 1978 to 1979 by the Baden-Württemberg Landesdenkmalamt under archaeologist Jörg Biel [1]. The original burial mound measured 6 metres in height and about 60 metres in diameter but has shrunk to approximately 1 metre due to centuries of erosion and agricultural activity [1].
