Bayston Hill

Bayston Hill is a village in Shropshire, England, located 5 km south of Shrewsbury, with evidence of both an Iron Age hillfort and a Roman settlement on its high grounds. Archaeological surveys from 2001 identified six previously unknown historical sites including sections of at least one Roman road (43-450 AD), medieval trackways, cropmarks suggesting historical earthworks, and medieval parish boundary stones. The area also preserves remains of a Roman villa at Chapel Field near Whitley. In the Middle Ages, the surrounding Bayston Hill and Condover area was established as a Royal hunting forest.
