Bayston Hill

Bayston Hill is a village in Shropshire, England, located 5 km south of Shrewsbury, with evidence of both an Iron Age hillfort and a Roman settlement on its high grounds [1]. Archaeological surveys from 2001 identified six previously unknown historical sites including sections of at least one Roman road, medieval trackways, cropmarks suggesting historical earthworks, and medieval parish boundary stones [1]. The area also preserves remains of a Roman villa at Chapel Field near Whitley [2] [3] [4]. In the Middle Ages, the surrounding Bayston Hill and Condover area was established as a Royal hunting forest [1] [5].
