Caer Caradoc - Chapel Lawn

Small multivallate Iron Age hillfort and Scheduled Monument near Clun in south-west Shropshire, overlooking Chapel Lawn within a loop of the River Redlake. A nationally rare type with around 100 examples recorded in England, it features two banks and a ditch supplemented by an additional bank and two more ditches on the vulnerable northern flank. Like its namesake near Church Stretton, it is traditionally associated with the last stand of the British chieftain Caratacus against Rome around AD 50.
