Bury Castle, Selworthy

Bury Castle is a small Iron Age hillfort near Selworthy in Somerset, designated as a scheduled monument. Built on a spur of land overlooking the surrounding terrain, the fort encloses just 0.2 hectares. The main enclosure has a single rampart and ditch with steep natural drops on the north, east, and south sides, while the bank rises 1.6 metres high with a 2-metre-deep ditch. An additional rampart lies 30 metres to the west, revetted with drystone walling and fronted by a deep ditch, providing extra defence on the only approachable side. The site is accessed via a steep walk through National Trust woodland above Selworthy village.
