A Neolithic tell settlement on the western Thessalian plain near the Peneios River, with lowest occupation layers dating to c. 7000-6800 BCE. Excavated by Vladimir Milojcic from the University of Heidelberg in the 1950s-1970s, the 10 m-high mound revealed one of Europe's earliest examples of timber-framed, wattle-and-daub houses on stone foundations. Inhabitants practiced mixed agro-pastoralism with domesticated wheat, barley, and livestock. Milojcic's claim of an aceramic Neolithic phase remains disputed.
