Eretria was an ancient Thessalian town in the Phthiotis district, located near Pharsalus. During the Second Macedonian War, it was devastated by Philip V of Macedon in 198 BCE. In 197 BCE, the Roman army under Titus Quinctius Flamininus camped there at the end of the first day's march from Pherae towards Scotussa.
