Chalai, Thessaly

Chalai (or Chalaion) was an ancient Greek settlement in Phthiotis, Thessaly, occupied from the Archaic to Classical periods (roughly 5th–3rd century BC). The town's name is not directly attested in ancient sources; it is extrapolated from the demonym Χαλαῖος found in literary references. Archaeological excavations at Tsournati have uncovered remains confirming the settlement's existence during this timeframe.
