Frourio Hill

Frourio Hill is the ancient acropolis of Larissa, Greece, continuously inhabited since the city's earliest settlement. It served as the citadel in both antiquity and Byzantine times, housing main temples and the First Ancient Theatre. Excavations uncovered an early Christian basilica dedicated to Saint Achillios, a Byzantine bath, and walls built under Emperor Justinian I. During Ottoman rule, it was the only Greek Christian quarter of the city, known as the 'great mahalla'.
