Frourio Hill

Frourio Hill is the ancient acropolis of Larissa, Greece, continuously inhabited since the city's earliest settlement [1]. It served as the citadel in both antiquity and Byzantine times, housing main temples and the First Ancient Theatre [1]. Excavations uncovered an early Christian basilica dedicated to Saint Achillios, a Byzantine bath, and walls built under Emperor Justinian I. During Ottoman rule, it was the only Greek Christian quarter of the city, known as the 'great mahalla' [1].
