Vlochos Archaeological Site

Located at the northeast corner of the western Thessalian plain near Palamas, Greece, the Vlochos site is centered on the hill of Strongilovouni. A Greek-Swedish archaeological project (2016-2018) revealed a substantial ancient city spanning approximately 100 acres with an organized gridded street plan. The settlement flourished in the 4th-3rd centuries BC, featuring impressive fortification walls, over 20 towers, and public squares. A Late Archaic fortress with walls preserved to over 2 metres preceded the Classical-Hellenistic city.
