Valtos Leptokaryas

Valtos Leptokaryas is a Bronze Age archaeological site north of the village of Leptokarya near Mount Olympus in northern Greece, containing three successive settlement phases spanning the 2nd millennium BC. Valtos 3 (early 2nd millennium BC) yielded rich pottery, Valtos 2 (1745-1620 BC) featured monumental enclosures and a tumulus cemetery, and Valtos 1 (1300-1100 BC) represents a sparser late occupation. The cemetery produced luxury grave goods including gold earrings, an eight-shaped ring, bronze items, and a necklace with gold, bronze, glass, and stone beads, indicating a prosperous community with access to Aegean trade networks.
