West Wycombe

West Wycombe Camp is an Iron Age univallate hillfort on Church Hill in Buckinghamshire, enclosing approximately 2.75 acres. The oval enclosure measures 120m by 100m with a ditch 5.5 ft deep and 49.5 ft wide, flanked by inner and outer banks. Pottery sherds recovered from churchyard grave spoil in 1963-1966 date the occupation to Iron Age 'A', around the 2nd century BC. St Laurence's Church and the Dashwood Mausoleum now occupy the interior, making further archaeological investigation extremely difficult.
