Beckfoot

Beckfoot is a hamlet in the civil parish of Holme St Cuthbert in Cumbria, England, situated on the B5300 coast road approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Silloth-on-Solway and 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the village of Mawbray[1]. The area was fortified during Roman times as part of the coastal defense system extending beyond the western end of Hadrian's Wall, with milefortlets 14 and 15 constructed to guard this section of coastline[2]. The Roman fort at Beckfoot is believed to have been called Bibra[2]. Carlisle lies approximately 25 miles (40.2 km) to the east[1].
