The Langdale Axe Industry was a major Neolithic stone axe production centre in the Lake District, using local greenstone volcanic rock to manufacture polished axes between 4000-3500 BC.[1] Systematic excavations by Clare Fell in the 1940s-1950s uncovered workshops and waste flakes, revealing large-scale specialized manufacturing.[1]
