Milseburg is an extinct volcano rising 835 metres (2,740 ft) in the Hessian Rhön Mountains, making it the region's second-highest peak[1]. The hill, located east of Fulda near Kleinsassen and Danzwiesen, contains the remains of a major Celtic oppidum dating to 500–1500 BC[1][2]. This Iron Age fortified settlement ranks among the largest in central Germany[2]. Today the mountain is a popular hiking and biking destination[1]. The summit also features a chapel dedicated to St Gangulphus[1].
