Grasburg, Rottleberode

A prehistoric refuge castle in the form of a hillfort with a rampart and ditch system, located in the Alter Stolberg woodland between Stempeda and Rottleberode in the South Harz region of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. According to legend, it was the family seat of the Counts of Stolberg. In the 13th century a pilgrimage chapel was built in the castle grounds, where an annual fair was held until the 15th century, with a ceremony on St. Stephen's Day recorded in 1497.
