Curdon Camp

Curdon Camp is an Iron Age hill-slope enclosure approximately 1.3 km northwest of Stogumber in Somerset, England, designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Likely constructed between 500 BC and the Roman conquest of 43 AD, the oval enclosure featured a bank up to 4 metres high surrounded by a ditch up to 2.5 metres deep. The site may have functioned as a domestic or agricultural enclosure similar to Trendle Ring rather than a defensive hillfort. It was nearly completely destroyed by quarrying and the bulldozing of its southern rampart in spring 1964, with only fragments of the western and southwestern banks surviving.
