Beadlam Roman Villa

Built in the 3rd-4th centuries AD, Beadlam Roman Villa is a large Romano-British farmstead on the east bank of the River Riccal in North Yorkshire, England. First excavated in 1928 when Romano-British tile, pot and tesserae were found, the site revealed a mosaic pavement during further work in 1966. Excavations between 1969 and 1978 uncovered buildings forming three sides of a courtyard, and the field was later purchased by English Heritage [1]. The villa lies in Ryedale between Helmsley and the village of Beadlam, and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument [1].
