Dalton Parlours Roman Villa

Dalton Parlours is a Roman villa and scheduled monument near Collingham, West Yorkshire, the only known example of its type in the region. Discovered in 1854, major excavations in 1976 revealed an Iron Age settlement beneath the Roman structures. Occupied from c. AD 200 to shortly after AD 370, the villa featured a winged corridor main building that expanded over time to include two courtyards, a bath suite, and hypocaust heating. A celebrated Medusa floor mosaic, found in the 19th century, is now displayed at the Yorkshire Museum in York. Artifacts include sixth legion stamped tiles from Roman York (Eburacum), silver objects, copper alloy military equipment, and fifteen human burials.
