Alassa is a Late Bronze Age urban centre in Cyprus, located north of the Kouris Dam in the Limassol District. Excavations since the 1980s have revealed substantial Bronze Age remains, including a palace complex, indicating the site functioned as a major regional centre [1][2]. The settlement is closely linked to Cyprus's copper production industry, with evidence of metalworking found at the site [2]. Alassa is widely considered a leading candidate for the capital of the ancient kingdom of Alashiya, mentioned in Egyptian and Mesopotamian texts [2][3]. The site demonstrates sophisticated ashlar masonry construction and shows connections to wider Mediterranean trade networks during the Late Bronze Age [2].
