Pen-y-crug

Pen-y-crug is a hillfort in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Powys, south Wales. The Welsh name means 'top of the mound' and locally it is called 'The Crug' [1]. The flat summit at 331 metres is topped by a trig point and overlooks the River Usk valley to the south [1]. To the southeast lie panoramic views over Brecon, while eastwards rise the Black Mountains and to the south stand the Brecon Beacons [1]. The hill slopes are moderately gentle on three sides, steepening only to the west [1].
