Damb Sadat

Damb Sadat (Sadaat) is an archaeological mound in the Quetta Valley of Balochistan, Pakistan, located 12 km south of Quetta city. The oval-shaped site, 73 m in circumference and 15.2 m high, is related to the early phases of the Indus Valley Civilisation, with its earliest phase dating to 3500-2600 BC. The site lends its name to a distinct archaeological phase (Damb Sadat Phase, 4500-2000 BC) covering 37 known sites across Central Balochistan, the largest being Quetta Miri at 23 hectares. Excavations revealed large houses with brick walls from the early third millennium BC, and pottery in the black-on-buff Quetta tradition. The site is culturally linked to Kot Diji and Sothi-Siswal cultures.
