Jhukar-jo-Daro

Jhukar-jo-Daro is a Chalcolithic mound site in Larkana District, Sindh, covering approximately 10 hectares with two main mounds separated by 300 feet. Excavated by N.G. Majumdar in 1927-28, it is the type site for the Jhukar Phase (c. 1900-1300 BCE), a post-urban regional variant of the Indus Valley Civilization. Finds include distinctive bichrome pottery, terracotta figurines, carnelian beads, geometric seals, and about 50 mud-brick rooms. The site illuminates the transition from urban Mature Harappan centers to decentralized settlements during the Localization Era.
