Cloghanmore

Cloghanmore (meaning 'the great stone heap') is a megalithic court tomb in Malin More, Glencolmcille, County Donegal, one of the twelve largest and most complex Irish court cairns. The monument stretches 46.3 metres in length with an oval court 16 metres long and 12 metres wide, containing twin parallel galleries divided by jamb stones. Radiocarbon dating places its use at c. 3600-3400 BC. Uniquely for a court tomb, two decorated orthostats bear passage tomb-style rock art with concentric circles and serpentiform designs. The Board of Works restored the monument in the 1880s after it was uncovered from peat.
