Cohaw

Cohaw is a Neolithic dual court tomb located 4 km southeast of Cootehill, County Cavan, Ireland, known locally as the "Giant's Grave". The monument consists of two individual court tombs built back-to-back within an impressive 25-metre-long cairn, containing five burial chambers in total. The south court is two-thirds of a circle while the north court is U-shaped. Excavated by Howard Kilbride-Jones in 1949, the dig yielded over half a kilogram of Neolithic pottery sherds with characteristic carination and rolled-over rims, along with cremated remains of three individuals: a person under twenty, a male aged 10-15, and a child under 10. Court tombs are among Ireland's earliest megalithic monuments. The site is a National Monument under state guardianship, though much of the original cairn was dismantled for road construction.
