EnglandMaumbury Rings is a Neolithic henge in Dorchester, Dorset, England. It consists of a circular earthwork 85 metres in diameter with a single bank and a north-east entrance[1]. During the Roman period it was converted into an amphitheatre, and in the English Civil War (1642–1651) it served as an artillery fort defending the southern approach to Dorchester[1]. Today the monument is a public open space used for concerts, festivals and historical re-enactments[1].
