Hampton Down Stone Circle

The Hampton Down Stone Circle is a prehistoric monument near Portesham in Dorset, England. Archaeologists believe it was erected during the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age period (3300–900 BCE), part of a broad tradition of stone circle construction across Britain, Ireland, and Brittany. The original purpose remains unknown, though it likely served as a religious or ceremonial site. Some scholars suggest the stones may not form a true circle but are instead kerbstones from a Bronze Age round barrow.
