EnglandA possible Bronze Age stone circle or timber circle site near Litton Cheney village in Dorset, England. In the 1930s, Stuart and Cecily Piggott surveyed the site and identified a shallow ditch enclosing an oval area of roughly 75 by 63 feet, with circular depressions suggesting twelve stones may have originally stood here. A second nearby feature (Litton Cheney 2) comprised a 47-foot diameter ditch with a sarsen stone. Archaeological remains date to 2200-1400 BC, and researcher Peter Knight (1996) identified possible astronomical alignments to solstice events.
