Landguard Fort

Landguard Fort is a fort at the mouth of the River Orwell outside Felixstowe, Suffolk, designed to guard the river mouth. [1] Originally known as Langer Fort, the first fortifications from 1540 were earthworks and a blockhouse. [2] In 1667, Dutch forces under Michiel de Ruyter landed here during the Second Anglo-Dutch War. [3] The fort is now managed by English Heritage and open to the public.
