Osiris Temple, Abydos.

Between the First Dynasty and the Twenty-sixth Dynasty (c. 3000–1500 BC), nine or ten successive temples were built on this sacred site at Abydos[1]. The first structure was a modest rectangular enclosure measuring approximately 9.1 by 15.2 metres (30 × 50 ft), enclosed by a thin wall of unbaked mud brick[1]. A larger temple, roughly 12 metres (40 ft) square with walls about 3 metres (10 ft) thick, was later constructed incorporating one wall of the earlier structure[1]. An outer temenos wall enclosed the entire complex[1]. Abydos, located about 11 km west of the Nile in Upper Egypt, was primarily dedicated to the worship of Osiris.
