Also known as: Tombs of the Nobles at Aswan

A vast necropolis on the west bank of the Nile opposite Luxor, containing over 415 catalogued tombs (designated TT) of powerful courtiers and officials from the 18th, 19th, and 20th Dynasties of the New Kingdom. Unlike the grand royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, these are shallower and closer to the surface, featuring vivid painted scenes of daily life including farming, music, and celebrations. Notable tombs include Sennefer (TT 96), known as the Tomb of the Vineyards, and Nakht (TT 52), which contains some of the most beautiful paintings in the Theban Necropolis.
