First Pylon

The First Pylon of Karnak is the monumental entrance to the Precinct of Amun-Re, built by Nectanebo I during the 30th Dynasty (380-362 BC) but never completed [1] [2] [3]. It measures 113 metres wide and 15 metres thick, with the south tower reaching approximately 31.65 metres and the north tower about 21.70 metres, against a projected height of 38-40 metres [1] [2]. The mud brick construction ramps are still visible inside the great court [1] [2]. Despite its incomplete state, it serves as the main entrance to the Karnak temple complex today [1].
