Ramesses III Temple

The Ramesses III Temple at Karnak is the bark shrine that Ramesses III built south of the second pylon and that a later court of Shoshenq I enclosed [1]. A small temple built by Ramesses III stands on the south side of the forecourt of the precinct of Amun-Re at Karnak [2]. Sixteen statues of the king were attached to the pillars of the first court of the temple [1]. The dimensions of the shrine are given as 27.5 metres across, 60.5 metres deep and 14 metres high [1]. Three bark shrines inside the temple housed the sacred barks of Amun, Mut and Khonsu [1]. A small pylon stood in front of the bark shrine, its walls showing the king smiting his enemies [1].
