Sarvaš

Sarvas is a village in eastern Slavonia, Croatia, east of Osijek, containing a Scordisci archaeological site dating to the late La Tene period (1st century BC). Excavated during rescue operations in the 1970s and 1980s, the site was part of the broader Scordisci settlement network in the Vinkovci area. The Scordisci were a Celtic tribal confederation centred at the confluence of the Sava, Drava, and Danube rivers, whose core territory spanned parts of modern Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania. The Sarvas finds contribute to understanding Scordisci material culture and their westward expansion into the Slavonian plains.
