Knin

Knin is a city in the Sibenik-Knin County of Croatia, located in the Dalmatian hinterland near the source of the Krka river. The Spas hill has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and the nearby Roman military camp of Burnum was founded in the 1st century to control the Krka river crossing. In the medieval period, Knin Fortress became a royal seat of the Croatian kingdom, reaching its peak under King Demetrius Zvonimir from 1076. The fortress is the second largest in Croatia and remains the city's most prominent landmark.
