Epidaurus was an ancient Greek colony founded in the 6th century BC on the Dalmatian coast [1]. It was renamed Epidaurum when it came under Roman control in 228 BC, becoming part of the province of Illyricum (later Dalmatia) [1]. The settlement is located at present-day Cavtat in Croatia, approximately 15 km (9 mi) south of Dubrovnik [1].
