Royal Tombs of Selca e Poshtme

The Illyrian Tombs of Selca e Poshtme are an ancient necropolis near Pogradec, Albania, on the right bank of the Shkumbin River at 1,040 m elevation [1]. The site contains ruins of the ancient city of Pelion, settled by the Illyrian tribe of Enchele during the Iron Age and reaching its height in later Iron Age [1]. From the 4th to 1st centuries BC, it served as the royal residence of Illyrian kings, functioning as a key political and economic centre [1]. The Roman Via Egnatia passed nearby toward Thessaloniki, and Roman-period municipal building traces remain [1].
