Peqin Castle

The Peqin Castle is a fortification in Peqin, Albania, situated on the ancient Via Egnatia trade route [1]. Its foundations likely date to the Roman period (1st–5th century AD), with original walls reaching approximately 12 metres in height [1]. During the Ottoman era, the castle was substantially rebuilt and expanded, coming under the control of local Sipahi lords who added a palace and harem [1]. The final notable resident was Demir Pasha [1].
